Millions to tune in for Eurovision final

Tens of millions will tune in to see the ‘Queen of Burlesque’ Dita von Teese send temperatures soaring at tonight’s Eurovision Song Contest final in Moscow.

Tens of millions will tune in to see the ‘Queen of Burlesque’ Dita von Teese send temperatures soaring at tonight’s Eurovision Song Contest final in Moscow.

The burlesque dancer will be vamping it up in support of Germany, with Eurovision hearts to be set racing by her racy performance.

While Germany’s Alex Swings Oscar Sings! will perform 'Miss Kiss Kiss Bang', all eyes are likely to be focused on Dita von Teese’s background performance.

Bookmakers Paddy Power are still offering odds of 3/1 that the ‘queen of burlesque’ will be banned from performing for being “too raunchy”.

Punters can get odds of 40/1 on Germany winning tonight, while Norway’s singing violinist Alexander Rybak is overwhelming favourite at 8/11, with Greece following at 11/2.

Irish interest tonight is likely to be focussed on the Danish entry which was co-written by Boyzone star

Ronan Keating, following the elimination of Ireland’s entry of Sinéad Mulvey and Black Daisy in Thursday night’s semi-final.

Thousands will tune in across the country tonight despite Ireland failing to make it to the final, with the UK’s Jade Ewen among the favourites to seal tonight’s crown.

Contestants will be hoping they take the same route as the likes of Abba and Celine Dion who launched their careers with successful Eurovision campaigns. In total, 25 countries will compete tonight after 20 acts progressed from the two semi-finals, while Russia, France, Germany, Britain and Spain automatically secured their place in the final.

Marty Whelan will provide the commentary on tonight’s Eurovision Song Contest final from 8pm on RTÉ One, while Bandon-born TV star Graham Norton takes over from Terry Wogan to provide the commentary for BBC tonight.
