Madonna to boost Israeli tourism

Queen of pop Madonna is the star of a new TV advertisement to boost tourism in Israel.

The singer and husband Guy Ritchie are devout followers of the Kabbalah, a mystical offshoot of Judaism and recently visited the Middle Eastern state with Los Angeles Kabbalah Center head Rabbi Phillip Berg to tour religious and historical sites.

Madonna took time out of her spiritual journey, to film the 30 second ad for the Ministry of Tourism, which will debuted at the World Tourism Fair in London next week.

According to Israeli news site haaretz.com, Madonna assures audiences the country is a safe place to visit.

Despite Madonna's devotion to the offshoot, Berg and his followers have come into criticism from Israeli religious leaders, who claim the Hollywood version of the Kabbalah is very different from the ancient study methods.
