Libertines delay reform decision until after festival appearances

The Libertines will decide after Reading and Leeds whether they will reunite full time.

Carl Barat - who fronts the indie rockers alongside Pete Doherty - said everything rests on how the UK band's first two shows as a full group since 2004 go, as to whether they will carry on.

The band will play Britain's Leeds festival tomorrow and Reading on Saturday.

When asked if the group will stay together after the shows, Carl said: "I think that decision will actually come at that point of time."

He also added that the band "would love to continue doing this" as long as things go to plan.

The group's bassist, John Hassall, says now is a "crucial time" but remains positive about the future of the group.

He told NME magazine: "I think it's obviously very important how these gigs go. Not for everyone else, but for ourselves. The focus is on these shows, then we'll see what happens.

"Really you couldn't say at the moment, but yeah, it's definitely possible, definitely."

The Libertines originally split in 2004, shortly after Pete was thrown out of the band because of his problems with drugs.
