X-Factor judge Simon Cowell said today his role in TV’s The Simpsons was the most “intimidating” thing he had ever done.
The episode sees Cowell, in his trademark high trousers, get punched by Homer Simpson after delivering some of his trademark put-downs.
He stars as a boss who auditions little Maggie for a place in a prestigious nursery.
Today at a screening prior to the show’s broadcast on Sky 1, Cowell said he was “very proud” to be part of the show.
“It’s genuinely my favourite programme. When I got the telephone call I thought it was a wind-up but it was true,” he said.
“It was the most intimidating thing I have ever done in my life. I only had one condition – make me handsome and make me young – as you can see that’s been achieved.”
The Pop Idol judge tells Maggie she can always work as a “sweater folder” in The Gap clothing store because she is not clever enough to get into the nursery.
But at the end of the episode Maggie’s father, Homer, delivers a punch which leaves Cowell with a nosebleed.
Cowell shot to fame in the US as a judge on American Idol.
The episode is screened on Sky 1 on Sunday at 6.30pm.
