Cork radio station dedicated to Rod Stewart launched ahead of Páirc Uí Chaoimh gig
Rod Stewart has recorded jingles for a Cork radio station which has been launched in his honour ahead of his Páirc Uí Chaoimh performance on May 25.
Radio Rod which plays Rod Stewart songs 24 hours a day is available on the C103 website and also on the radio station's smartphone Apps.
Brendan O’Driscoll, Content Controller for C103 and its sister station, Cork’s 96FM said Rod is a particular favourite of music lovers in Ireland.
Rod kicks off a great summer of live music in Cork on May 25. He is an artist who has stood the test of time and is a great fit for C103. So we decided it was only right to give him his own station.
Rod Stewart previously played Leeside at Live at the Marquee Cork back in 2009.
Peter Aiken of Aiken Promotions previously said Rod loves playing to Irish audiences.
"Rod Stewart (in the Marquee) was very special.
When he walked out in Cork he said that he was in the business to play nights like that.
"He has a special relationship with Ireland."
Next month concert-goers will be treated to tracks from his recent album Blood Red Roses.
The album is a deeply personal 13-track collection of originals and three covers including ‘Grace’.
It was released almost 50 years to the date from when Rod signed his very first solo recording contract.
The 74-year-old Scot has sold more than 200 million records worldwide.
He will play Dublin and Belfast later this year.
