Radio presenter Mark Chapman was caught out when cricketer-turned commentator Geoffrey Boycott stopped an interview because one of his favourite television shows was about to start.

The straight-talking Yorkshireman bailed out of the Radio Five Live show while talking about his experience facing the fearsome West Indies pace attack of the 1970s and 1980s.

He told Chapman they would never use bad language on the pitch, adding: “They didn’t have to use their mouth, they used their skill. And anyhow that’s all I’ve got to say, I’m going to watch CSI. Thank you very much.”

Then he hung up.

Chapman and co-host Michael Vaughan burst out laughing before Chapman told listeners to last night’s show: “When Geoffrey’s booked for half an hour, he’s booked for half an hour.”
