Blake: Amy wanted to renew relationship

Amy Winehouse wanted to get back with Blake Fielder-Civil before she died.

The late 'Back to Black' singer and her ex-husband - who she split from in February 2009 after almost two years of drug-fuelled married life - had several emotional chats about rekindling their relationship in the days before Blake was jailed for burglary and possession of an imitation fire arm in June 2011.

Speaking on 'The Jeremy Kyle Show', Blake confessed: "When I got discharged from prison there were texts messages on my phone that I'd not seen for about 16 months before I died and the messages were from Amy. They were under the nickname that I gave her, Jim...

"There was one about being a godmother to Jack [Blake's son]. We'd sort of spoken in the previous weeks about it and we had one emotional phone call where we'd sort of said, 'Are we thinking of maybe getting back together at some point?' "

Amy - who passed away one month later in July 2011 in her London home from an alcohol overdose - was told by her psychiatrist she would never get over Blake and the doomed lovers were hoping to giving things another go, despite the ex-heroin addict having a young son with his girlfriend Sarah Aspin.

Blake added: "She said that her doctor had said to her, 'You're never not going to be in love with Blake', and she'd said, 'Yeah I know', and she'd asked me if she could come and visit me.

"And I'd written a letter saying, 'What are we going to do? Of course I'll always love you.' We'd been corresponding for maybe about a week round and round about it and in the end it was sort of like, what are we doing?"

Sarah - who has 21-month old son, Jack, with Blake and announced she was expecting a second child last August - revealed she felt hurt by her boyfriend's betrayal and she worried he would never get over his "toxic" love with Amy, which nearly killed him after he fell into a drug-induced coma after the anniversary of the singer's death last summer.

Asked how the experience was at the time, she sighed: "Very difficult. I was so young and I was visiting him all the time in prison. I just think their relationship was a lot more toxic than ours.

"I didn't think he'd take his life either. I never thought for one moment he'd do that because of me and Jack. I knew he'd be upset, I knew he'd be devastated. He did love her."
