Aerosmith are going to have a "vintage sound" on their 14th studio album.

Frontman Steven Tyler revealed the 'Walk This Way' rockers - who are currently working on their first record since 2004's 'Honkin' on a Bobo' covers album - will sound like they are well and truly "back" in the music industry when people hear their latest work, which sees the group re-team with producer Jack Douglas.

Steven said: "We've been in the studio for the last month. We're going to have a vintage sound, 'cause we're going to tape and a lot of good things like that.

"We're keeping tracks lean, not a lot of overdubs, and like I said, we're using Jack to his fullest. So you're going to hear some stuff where you might think Aerosmith's back."

The 63-year-old rocker - who is also a judge on talent show 'American Idol' - is having "such a good time" penning tracks for the band again that he has been reminiscing about writing songs in the 1970s.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, he added: "I'm having such a good time writing again. You got the songs right now where they're like shells, with no lyrics and no melody, and I get to fill in the blanks like I did with 'Back in the Saddle' when it was just a track."
