Norton says he's impossible to live with

Irish comedian Graham Norton has revealed the reason why his relationships end: he’s “impossible” to live with.

The gay stand-up said that when he arrives home after filming his five-nights-a-week show, V Graham Norton, for Channel 4, he likes nothing better than to close the door on the world.

He said: “All my day is spent dealing with other people. When I come home I like it to be empty.

“The presence of others in my house kind of annoys me. I love coming home and shutting the doors. I feel brain dead.

“I’m relatively available, but not to live with.”

Interviewed in The Sunday Telegraph Magazine, Norton, 39, said he had been in love three times, including once with a woman to whom he was engaged.

His longest relationship, with American producer Scott Michaels, lasted five years.

He said: “My version of falling in love is borderline psychotic. Should be avoided at all costs. Get obsessed. Can’t fall in love and function at the same time. All-consuming. Tunnel vision. Euphoric.”

On pornography he said: “I use it myself but don’t think you can generalise about pornography because some of it goes very dark places.”
