Waterford's Wildcats are back in the big time after claiming the ESB Women's League basketball title without throwing a ball in anger.

On a free weekend for the Suirsiders, they won the league after nearest rivals Tolka Rovers went down to Limerick. After missing out to Tolka last season, it's Wildcats' sixth title in seven years.

A 79-69 win over Demons has put Killester within an ace of their first ESB Men's League basketball title in 25 years.

The other big winners of the weekend were UCD Marian and Star of the Sea, who both won on the double.
