The new Criminal Courts of Justice complex will be officially opened later today.

President Mary McAleese, the Justice Minister Dermot Ahern and the Chief Justice John L Murray will all officiate at a ceremony in Dublin this afternoon.

The €140m complex has begun hearing cases already.

Locals are expected to picket today's opening to highlight the stalled regeneration project in the nearby O'Devaney Gardens flats.
