The Republic of Ireland star will now face either Stephen Hendry or Marco Fu for a place in the last four.

Hann missed a simple black off its spot for a 144 total clearance in the fifth frame - a mistake which could well cost him the highest televised break prize.

And he lost the seventh on the black after Doherty had missed a snooker.

"Quinten told me that after he missed that black he didn't want to be here," said the Dubliner.

"But that didn't stop him making things tough for me."
