Gardaí have released without charge three people who were arrested in connection with an attack in Cork city which left a student on life support.

Denis Franklin from Limerick was beaten up in a violent assault on Cork's Grand Parade two weeks ago.

The two men and a woman who were arrested yesterday at their homes in Douglas and in South Cork have been released without charge, gardaí confirmed.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
