Striker Alun Armstrong will miss Ipswich's Worthington Cup semi-final first-leg clash with Birmingham at Portman Road because he is cup-tied.

Armstrong played for Middlesbrough in the competition before moving to Ipswich, but fellow-striker David Johnson should be fit after a groin injury.

Mark Venus is likely to return after an ankle problem.

Birmingham boss Trevor Francis is still without the injured Jon McCarthy and Dave Holdsworth.

But Francis has been given permission by Huddersfield Town to play on-loan defender Steve Jenkins against George Burley's side.
