One man has died and a woman was seriously injured in two separate road accidents this morning.

One man has died and a woman was seriously injured in two separate road accidents this morning.

A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he struck a pedestrian and a parked car in Co Clare.

The accident happened at Rathbaun in Lisdoonvarna at 2.45am today.

The motorcyclist, who is from Clare, was killed immediately. The pedestrian was also injured, but not seriously.

Meanwhile, a woman was seriously injured in Co Louth in an accident on the Dublin to Belfast road.

The woman was a pillion passenger on a motorbike that collided with a car at the Xerox factory south of Dundalk shortly after 3am this morning.
