Michael Jarvis registered his first Royal Ascot victory of the week with Champlain in the Chesham Stakes.

Philip Robinson was always close to the pace aboard the Sheikh Mohammed-owned colt and swept past long-time leader Middleham approaching the one-furlong marker.

Champlain, sent off the 7-2 second-favourite, did his job with real professionalism from then on to take the Listed prize with two lengths in hand from Aidan O’Brien’s Country Song.

Middleham stayed on gamely for third, a head further behind.
