The Labour party is calling on the Government to scrap its Stadium Ireland plans, saying there is a much greater need to improve the local sports infrastructure in Dublin.

Mary Upton TD says the Government has two choices - either to upgrade and build new sporting facilities across Dublin communities or land a white elephant on northwest Dublin without any public transport links.

Deputy Upton says that Stadium Ireland should only come after a decade of investment in local infrastructure. She added that the projected costs of the stadium are out of control.
