Galway 3-25 Meath 1-6

High-flying Galway hurlers made short work of a depleted Meath outfit in an embarrassing Div 1A league encounter at Ballinasloe today.

Galway hardly had to break sweat in chalking up a 26-point victory over a Meath team which had not been doing badly in the league up to now.

Galway stepped on the accelerator from the start and led by 3-12 to 1-4 thanks to goal scorers Alan Kerins (2) and Darren O'Shaughnessy.

Short key players, Nicky Horan, Paul Donnelly and Fergus McMahon, Meath were simply out of their depth.

Their tendency to foul was regularly punished by Galway free-taker Liam Burke during a pedestrian second half which provided little entertainment for the paltry crowd of about 300 .
