Motorsport: Judice is top scholar again, Keohane on third row

Brazilian, Ernani Judice (Parker F3) took his second pole position of the day in the British Formula 3Scholarship Class at Knockhill, Scotland.

Once again, the top six are covered by just over half a second, such is the intensity of the pace at the Scottish venue.

Michael Keohane, just like he did in this morning’s qualifier for tomorrow’s first race, dominated the early proceedings.

However, Judice exerted his control on the time sheets with Doornbos displacing Kerr (Fred Goddard Racing) for second place.

The Championship leader had to settle for the second row alongside championship rival, Matthew Gilmore of Performance Racing, Meritus driver, Keohane slipped to fifth with Justin Sherwood setting sixth fastest time.

With five minutes remaining, the session was red flagged when Harold Primat’s car was marooned at Clark corner.

When qualifying resumed, the order remained unchanged.

Knockhill, Scholarship Qualifiers:

1. Ernani Judice 48.284S.

2. Robert Doornbos 48.339S.

3. Robbie Kerr 48.419S.

4. Matthew Gilmore 48.645S.

5. Michael Keohane 48.656S.

6. Justin Sherwood 48.845S.

In the A Class qualifier, Anthony Davidson (Carlin Motorsport), claimed pole ahead of first race polesitter, Andy Priaulx with championship leader, Takuma Sato on the second row alongside James Courtney, who was one of four drivers to go off at the chicane at Brabhams.

James Courtney, Jamie Spence and Jeffrey Jones all hit the tyre barrier.

Outside the top eight in their respective qualifiers, both James Murphy and Emmet O’Brien will have to race in the qualification race to get on the grid for

tomorrow’s tenth round of the Formula Ford Zetec Championship.

Portadown’s, Gary Turkington has qualified on the second row and also definite starters for round 10 include Adam Carroll and Tony Rodgers.

In the Ford Credit Fiesta Challenge, Nick Padley was the fastest qualifier from Northern Ireland’s, ColinTurkington.

Dubliner, Eoin Murray qualified fifth.
