Mr Healy Rae is not contesting the up-coming General Election, but his son Michael is.

Speaking to Radio Kerry News, Deputy Healy Rae said he would travel to Dublin on Monday or Tuesday and make his decision early in the week.

"I was hoping he (Brian Cowen) would stay in place and I don’t know what's going to happen now…Until I talk to (people in Leinster House), I don't know what they story is," he said.
