Bruton hails jobs boost for indigenous firms
More than 100 jobs are to be created over the next three years at three Irish firms in Galway and Dublin.
The positions at the technology and manufacturing companies were announced in conjunction with a new wave of multi-million euro funding supported by Enterprise Ireland.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said it was important indigenous companies were able to compete with multinationals.
“A key part of the Government’s plans for jobs and growth is supporting Irish companies in gaining a greater share of the 80 billion euro spent by multinationals here on goods and services every year,” Mr Bruton said.
“In 2013 we have targeted an additional €500m in contracts for Irish companies out of that.”
Global mobile connectivity firm Cubic Telecom based in Dublin expects to create more than 70 jobs over the next three years.
The Jobs Minister said this was an example of how the Irish ICT sector was going from strength to strength.
Company chief executive Barry Napier said: “Connectivity must not only be robust, it also needs to be more intelligent and deliver a superior performance on demand.
“This is our focus at Cubic Telecom. We look forward to expanding the talent immediately within our team.”
Advant Medical in Galway will create 34 jobs at its plant over the next three years.
The contract manufacturing and packaging solutions company will expand its operations with a €2.4m investment, which will eventually bring its total workforce to 130.
Advant Medical chief executive Bob DiPetrillo said the expansion will enable the company to build its business.
“Advant Medical is committed in continuing to grow the business and this strategic and focused investment will position us to increase our international market share through device assembly and manufacturing capabilities,” he said.
Elsewhere, Dublin-based tech firm Voice Sage will create 10 technical and engineering jobs over the next 24 months.
A €1m investment in research and development will enable the company to expand its cloud-based customer communication technologies.
“Companies like this are at the forefront in developing innovative new products and services with wide appeal across international markets, leading to export sales and increased employment,” Mr Bruton said.
“I am determined that with the right support from Government, we can see more companies like this starting up, expanding and creating the jobs we need.”
Voice Sage enables automated real-time customer conversations for companies including Littlewoods, Homebase and Argos.
