The Labour Relations Commission is due to oversee talks today aimed at averting possible strike action at Dublin Port.
The Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union has served strike notice on the Dublin Port Company over the suspension of nine shore-based maintenance workers for refusing to work on tug boats.
The company says the TEEU agreed to new work practices last year in exchange for a pay rise, but the union says the issue currently in dispute is outside the remit of this deal.
It says the men at the centre of the dispute are shore-based workers and are not qualified to do a seaman's job.
