Ballymena 19 Dolphin 12

Ballymena ended a run of five straight defeats at home to Munster clubs as they accounted for Dolphin at Eaton Park today.

The home side’s pack was on top throughout as back rowers Chris Henry and Ian Caldwell and hooker Stephen Douglas piled over for tries.

Douglas was worked in after two minutes to set the Braidmen on their way. Barry Keeshan then registered two penalties for Dolphin before Henry dotted down after a lineout maul.

14-6 down at the break, Keeshan closed the gap for his side with another penalty brace but Caldwell’s try saw Jacques Benade’s men win out.

Scorers:

Ballymena: Tries: Chris Henry, Stephen Douglas, Ian Caldwell; Cons: Dirkie Strydom 2

Dolphin: Pens: Barry Keeshan 4.
