Scotland coach Ian McGeechan today made wholesale changes to his side for Saturday’s World Cup warm-up with Wales at the Millennium Stadium.

Scotland coach Ian McGeechan today made wholesale changes to his side for Saturday’s World Cup warm-up with Wales at the Millennium Stadium.

His side started their preparations for the tournament with an impressive win over Italy at Murrayfield on Saturday, but he has opted to draft in 11 new faces for this friendly.

Out of the 15 went Ben Hinshelwood, James McLaren, Andrew Henderson, Kenny Logan, Gordon Ross, Mike Blair, Tom Smith, Robert Russell, Jason White, Nathan Hines and Simon Taylor.

Into the side came Gavin Kerr, Graeme Beveridge, Glenn Metcalfe, Rory Kerr, Andy Craig, Brendan Laney, Gregor Townsend, Gordon Bulloch, Stuart Grimes, Andrew Mower and Martin Leslie.

McGeechan explained: “It’s important to give some of the younger players the opportunity and we’ve got a good mix of young and experience in there for this game.”

Scotland team to play Wales at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on Saturday 30 August (kick-off 2.30pm).
