Two separate accidents claimed at least 21 lives in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal today.
Eleven people drowned and at least 10 more were missing after an overcrowded boat hit a mud flat and sank in the Haldia River.
Coast guard divers rescued 51 people after the boat went down before dawn near Nayachar, 60 miles south of Calcutta.
In the second accident, 10 people were killed and 20 others injured when a speeding truck ploughed through a roadside tea shop at Shimurali, north of Calcutta.
The driver lost control of the truck, which was loaded with iron girders, and crashed into the tea shop.
All 10 people were killed instantly, said police.
