A man in his 20s is due in court this morning after a drug seizure and a bomb scare in Dublin last night.

A pipe bomb was discovered during the planned search of a house at Wood Hazel Terrace in Ballymun, where €3,000 worth of heroin was discovered.

The bomb squad was alerted just after 9pm and homes evacuated in the area.

The device was made safe without a controlled explosion and the parts are being handed over to gardai for their investigations.
