Overnight rain on Saturday has eased the going at Ayr ahead of the Gala Casinos Daily Record Scottish Grand National meeting which starts on Friday.

Overnight rain on Saturday has eased the going at Ayr ahead of the Gala Casinos Daily Record Scottish Grand National meeting which starts on Friday.

The recent dry spell had left the ground on the fast side of good.

However, clerk of the course Chris Kennedy reported: ‘‘We had four millimetres of rain overnight and the going is now good.

‘‘With watering we’ve had the equivalent of half an inch of rain since Friday.

‘‘We are forecast showers on Tuesday and Thursday so we will continue to monitor the situation.

‘‘The course is in good nick.’’
