Derby-winning trainer John Oxx will be rooting for Visindar in Saturday’s renewal of the Vodafone-sponsored Classic at Epsom.
The Irish handler guided the favourite’s sire, Sinndar, to glory in the 2000 renewal, as well as the Budweiser Irish Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in a fantastic three-year-old season.
He is still firmly associated with the Aga Khan’s string and hopes Andre Fabre’s charge can add to Sinndar’s growing reputation at stud.
“I’ll be rooting for Visindar on Saturday,” said Oxx. “We’d be delighted to see Sinndar get another Group One win.
“Last year was a great start for him (at stud) and it would be wonderful if he could win.
“He looks like a nice horse and he seems to have quite a lot of good qualities and his trainer is particularly keen on him, which is the most significant sign.
“It’s just a bit of a worry that he hasn’t really had a tough race,” Oxx told At The Races.
“He’s had three easy wins and he hasn’t been in a real tough encounter yet and that is the worry.
“It will be a big change for him on Saturday, it will be an altogether different assignment and I just hope he is ready for it.”
