Value of new mortgages down €6bn last year
The value of new mortgages taken out last was down 15% compared to 2006, according to new figures out today.
The Irish Bankers Federation and Pricewaterhousecooper say the amount of money being borrowed in new mortgages was down €6bn during the year.
Their figures also show that first-time buyers increased their share of the market from 18% to 19.3% during 2007.
