Gardaí release man without charge in connection with 'Viper' shooting

Gardaí have released a man who was arrested in connection with the attempted murder of Dublin criminal The Viper.

Gardaí have released a man who was arrested in connection with the attempted murder of Dublin criminal The Viper.

The 24-year-old - who was detained in Ranelagh on Saturday morning - was released without charge within the last hour.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

55-year-old Martin Foley - known as The Viper - was shot several times outside the Carlisle Gym on the Lower Kimmage Road in January.

It was the fourth time he survived an assassination attempt.
