The shake-up of the British telecoms industry continued today when cable operator NTL revealed it is to change its name to Virgin Media.
NTL bought Virgin Mobile and Telewest this year in a move to create a company capable of offering customers the “quadplay” of digital television, broadband internet access, and mobile and home telephone services.
NTL said today that it will change its name to Virgin Media early next year to take advantage of the Virgin brand.
It came as NTL posted widening losses as it worked to knock the enlarged company into shape.
