'Tiger kidnapping' trial delayed to due to unforeseen circumstances

The trial of five men accused of robbing €2.28m in a "tiger kidnapping" four years ago has been adjourned till next week due to unforseen circumstances.

The trial of five men accused of robbing €2.28m in a "tiger kidnapping" four years ago has been adjourned till next week due to unforseen circumstances.

Mr Kavanagh (aged 34) of Parslickstown Court, Ladyswell; David Byrne (aged 36) of Old Brazeel Way, Knocksedan, Swords; Niall Byrne (aged 27) of Aughavanagh Road, Crumlin; Mark Farrelly (aged 37) of Moatview Court, Priorswood; and Christopher Corcoran (aged 61) of Bayside Boulevard North, Sutton have all pleaded not guilty to falsely imprisoning the Richardson family on March 13 and 14, 2005.

They have also pleaded not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to robbing Mr Paul Richardson and Securicor on the same date

Earlier, a Securicor worker revealed a man who had been scheduled as crew member for Mr Richardson’s van on March 14, 2005, had been robbed a few weeks earlier while on his ATM rounds.

Mr Glen Kelly told prosecution counsel, Mr Dominic McGinn BL, that the man rang in that morning to say he was still unfit to come to work.

Mr Kelly put Mr Paddy O’Callaghan on the job instead.

The trial continues before Judge Tony Hunt and a jury of seven men and five women
