Strike forces airline to cancel 364 flights
Alitalia has said it will cancel 364 flights on Monday because of an eight-hour strike called by airline workers.
Although a pilots’ union was not obeying the strike call, other unions covering Alitalia employees were, the airline said, necessitating the cancellations.
Of the cancelled flights, 182 are domestic routes, 168 international routes and 14 intercontinental, the airline said.
In addition, 64 flights will be modified because of the walkout.
Some 18,000 passengers will be affected by the strike, due to start at 10am on Monday, Alitalia said.
The airline workers are protesting against lay-off plans at the struggling company, which is trying to restructure.
