Zimbabwean police have charged six opposition activists with plotting against the government.

The Movement for Democratic Change activists were arrested yesterday and charged under security laws which could lead to a 20-year sentence.

In a separate incident, four white farmers were also charged under the same clause.

The charges came a day after the opposition announced plans for a campaign of civil disobedience and mass action to unseat President Robert Mugabe, declared the winner in disputed presidential elections in March.
