Mountmellick residents launch new waste reduction plan

Residents of Mountmellick are launching an action plan today aimed at making the Co Laois town Ireland's first official "green town".

Residents of Mountmellick are launching an action plan today aimed at making the Co Laois town Ireland's first official "green town".

The residents are hoping to increase household recycling to 40% and increase composting by 150% as part of the plan.

The move is supported by the Government's Race Against Waste campaign, which wants it to be replicated in other towns across the country.
