The IMPACT trade union has taken out full-page advertisements in today's newspapers explaining its anger over the pension levy being imposed on public-sector workers.

The union says the levy is "glaringly unfair, unworkable, damaging, divisive and stupid" and will weaken the ability of ordinary public-sector workers to pay their mortgages and meet other everyday costs.

It says the money being taken from "ordinary people who earn ordinary salaries" is being handed over to the bankers and developers who caused the current economic crisis.

IMPACT also says its members are willing to take some pain as part of an economic recovery plan, but will not stand by and accept "a vicious attack on ordinary working families".
