West Ham boss Glenn Roeder is bidding to end the club's Premiership woes with the signing of Ipswich striker Marcus Bent in the new year, according to a report.

Ipswich had originally stamped a £3m (€4.6m) price tag on the front man.

But now the club looks set to drop to £2m (€3.1m) to bring in money for manager Joe Royle's January signings, according to the Sun newspaper.

Roeder has limited resources for when the transfer window reopens but is keen to bolster his attack with the 24-year-old.
