Firefighters in the North were tonight tackling a major blaze on an industrial estate in Lurgan, County Armagh.

It started in a vacant warehouse on the Annesborough Industrial Estate when, it is believed, a gas cylinder exploded.

Police evacuated a nearby petrol station, off licence and car park and urged residents in the area to keep all of their doors and windows closed.

The fire sent plumes of thick black smoke spiralling more than 50 feet into the air.
