A lawyer for Zsa Zsa Gabor said today the 91-year-old actress may have lost as much as $9m (€6.5m) invested in the Bernard Madoff’s alleged pyramid scheme scam.
Chris Fields said forensics accountants looking into the missing millions believe they were invested with the former Nasdaq stock exchange chairman through a third-party money manager.
He said the loss was noticed about a week ago when Gabor’s husband Frederic von Anhalt was checking the couple’s finances.
Madoff, aged 70, is said by prosecutors to have admitted duping investors out of as much as $50bn (€38.6bn).
Other Hollywood victims have included Kevin Bacon, a charity linked to director Steven Spielberg and his DreamWorks partner Jeffrey Katzenberg, and screenwriter Eric Roth, whose credits include 'The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button'.
