The Library Council of Ireland says 12.5 million books are loaned by Irish public libraries every year.

The Library Council of Ireland says 12.5 million books are loaned by Irish public libraries every year.

The 10 most popular books borrowed in January included publications by five female Irish authors.

These writers now qualify to receive payments under the Public Lending Remuneration Scheme every time their books are loaned out.
