Age Action Ireland has called on the Government to do more to improve the quality of life of older people.

The call was made today to coincide with Positive Ageing Week - an initiative aimed at increasing awareness of issues facing the elderly.

Age Action Ireland said older people are discriminated against in various ways in Ireland, despite the fact that over-65s will make up one-quarter of the population by 2050.
