A police search at the home of the couple charged in connection with the deaths of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman has been completed, it emerged today.

The former home of Ian Huntley, who is accused of murdering the girls, and his partner Maxine Carr, who is charged with perverting the course of justice, has been sealed off since their arrests in August.

The search has now been completed although the cottage, in the grounds of Soham Village College in Cambridgeshire, remains sealed off and detectives may return to it to collect new evidence, a spokeswoman said.

The two-storey home – tied to Huntley’s former job as the college caretaker - is understood to have been virtually taken apart during the search.

His contract with the college has been terminated since he was charged with the double murder.
