A plan to rescue the aircraft maintenance firm SR Technics is due to be presented to the IDA later today.

A plan to rescue the aircraft maintenance firm SR Technics is due to be presented to the IDA later today.

Aircraft Overhaul Solutions Ireland Ltd says it could save the facility at Dublin Airport from closing if it gets support from the IDA, Enterprise Ireland and the Government.

It says it is in contact with a number of foreign investors and claims it could return the business to profitability by 2011.

The Swiss owners of SR Technics are planning to close the company in the coming months with the loss of more than 1,100 jobs.

The workers are planning to march to the offices of the Dublin Airport Authority today to highlight their concerns about a shortfall in their pension fund at the minimal redundancy deal being offered by the firm.

The IDA informed trade unions yesterday that 30 parties had expressed an interest in taking over the company.
