A Galway punter won €206,262.19 after his ambitious 17-fold football accumulator came in.

The Paddy Power mobile customer successfully picked all the winners in 17 games across the Champions League, Championship and League One.

He had Norwich midfielder Bradley Johnson to thank after his 85th-minute winner against Blackburn Rovers secured his windfall.

Unusually, bar Bradley Johnson’s last-gasp effort at Ewood Park, there was very little late drama for this punter as 16 of his 17 teams were ahead by the 52-minute mark.

Féilim Mac An Iomaire, a spokesperson for Paddy Power, said: "This is by a county mile, the most impressive bet of the season, and any punter that defies odds of 206,261/1 is due a tip of the hat.

"He’s taken us to the cleaners and while we’re delighted for him we’ll be hoping that won’t be giving us another kicking any time soon."

It gets even better for the lucky man - he is also due to an extra €1,000 due to Paddy Power’s accumulator bonus offer.

He wasn’t the only one - last night's football results cost BoyleSports €2m in payouts, with one lucky online punter from Dublin turning €10 into €89,001.65.

The customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, entered a €10 accumulator, which consisted of 15 teams that defied the odds of 8900/1.

The 15 teams were Juventus, Barcelona, Norwich, Brentford, Derby, Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Watford, Cardiff, Wolves, Bristol City, Preston, Swindon, Bristol Rovers and Grimsby.

Liam Glynn, PR Executive at BoyleSports said: “Tuesday night’s football results were just a kick up the ass for BoyleSports with punters scoring left right and centre.

“The results cost the firm €2m in pay-out’s through all channels and are by far the worst football results of the season so far.”

“We wish the lucky Dublin punter who turned his €10 Accumulator into a whopping €89K on Tuesday night happy spending and it goes to show that small stakes can return big dividends.”
