Rocks ready for Gold outing

Red Rocks is set to make a quick reappearance in Ireland next month after a disappointing run in Dubai.

Red Rocks is set to make a quick reappearance in Ireland next month after a disappointing run in Dubai.

The four-year-old could finish only ninth in the Sheema Classic at Nad Al Sheba last Saturday but trainer Brian Meehan believes that was not his true running.

He told the Racing Post: “Red Rocks didn’t really have a race in Dubai, so the run is best forgotten.

“I’ve spoken to my staff in Dubai who reported you wouldn’t know he’d had a race. Accordingly, it will not be too long before he’s out again, and the Tattersalls Gold Cup would appear a suitable option.

“We’re keen to bring him back to 10 furlongs because there is the likelihood of a more genuine pace.”
