Seven labour unions of Groupe Air France have called for a 24-hour strike on Oct 24 to protest the French government's plans to continue its privatisation efforts by selling additional shares held by the state, according to a CFDT union official.
The same unions also called a 24-hour strike last Oct 3, but Air France management said it had not disturbed traffic, estimating that only 20% of employees participated.
Unions have been periodically striking since the government announced its plans to reduce the State's holding to below 20% from 55.9% currently, including a four-day pilot's strike in September that resulted in €80m of lost revenue.
