This afternoon’s fixture at Huntingdon, featuring the valuable totesport.com Peterborough Chase, has been abandoned due to a frozen track.

Clerk of the course Andrew Morris moved forward a proposed 11am inspection - his third assessment of conditions this morning – so as not to delay the inevitable.

Morris said: “There has been no progress, so we’ve knocked it on the head already.

“We gave the meeting every chance, but parts of the course are still frozen and won’t be fit for racing.

“We were forecast plus 1C overnight but we got to minus 4C, which caught everyone by surprise.”
