Jason McGuinness was Sligo’s hero for the second week running with a yet another late goal as Ian Baraclough’s Bit O’ Red snatched a win over plucky UCD before a crowd of over 2,000 at the Showgrounds.

Central defender McGuinness had scored a 90th minute equaliser at Shelbourne last week to earn Sligo a point.

But the Dubliner went one better tonight when heading home a 93rd minute corner from John Dillon to win the match in a most dramatic finish.

The result was harsh on UCD who looked to have got a point after David O’Connor levelled on 90 minutes, heading past Gary Rogers after the visitors' had twice hit the Sligo keeper's crossbar.

Sligo had right-back Keane sent off in the first main note of the game on 20 minutes for what was deemed a dangerous tackle on College striker Graham Rusk.

But three minutes later Sligo were in front. Ross Gaynor’s long ball from left-back found Danny North and the little striker lobbed UCD keeper Ger Barron.
