Underwater searches for the bodies of seven fishermen missing off the southeast coast were suspended after nightfall this evening.
For the first time this afternoon, navy divers were able to enter sunken trawler the Pere Charles and they have cleared the way for further investigation tomorrow.
Until today, bad weather conditions prevented divers from gaining access to the vessel.
However, winds died down today allowing three full dives to take place, in hope of finding the bodies of the five crewmen.
Safe entry and exit points to the wreck have been established - and divers are due to go down again in the morning.
Meanwhile, garda divers have located the wreck of the second trawler, the Honey Dew II, four miles off Ram Head.
The vessel sank just hours after the Pere Charles, claiming the lives of another two fishermen.
