Chris Porter headed a hat-trick as Motherwell marked the approaching anniversary of Phil O’Donnell’s death with a much-needed Clydesdale Bank Premier League victory.

Porter completed his treble in the 78th minute, the moment when the late skipper collapsed against Dundee United last year.

The striker scored twice in a first half dominated by Motherwell, whose victory rarely looked in doubt despite the loss of goals to Ross Tokely and Adam Rooney in the closing stages of each half.
